One day she noticed an ad in the paper. A real estate agency was looking for a salesman for its Alturas office.
"I said to myself, I could do this.
"The northern California manager came up to interview me. He told me they were looking for a man, but I would do until one came along," said Hicks.
When the manager was about to leave Hicks told him he wouldn't need a man. She worked as a saleswoman for two years then got her broker's license and worked another 20 years before going out on her own.
At about 100 years of age she gave up her downtown office because she was developing macular degeneration and was having difficulty driving.
She packed up a wall full of real estate selling awards, opened an office in her home and, at age 102, she is still selling real estate.
"I have a property in escrow now and several listings. Because of my macular degeneration I can't go out and get more listings," says Hicks.
Through the years she's sold homes to customers, then resold their homes years later and even sold the same home back to her original buyers.

Recy Hicks is one of the most remarkable women I've ever been privileged to know. We've attended the same church, I've visited her office, in her home, and she sold my property in record time. We all have our heroes, and Recy Hicks is mine.
Wow! I admire her spirit. Not everyone can do what she does at 102. More power..
