RealBird Integrates Google Maps into its MLS Mapping Service

Monday, July 25, 2005

As an industry first, RealBird, Inc., a provider of online maps and GIS tools for the real estate industry, announced today that its mapping service, including its recently released Map-based Search tool, is now available with seamless integration with Google Maps and Google Earth Viewer.

The integration applies to all three RealBird services:
  1. RealBird Map Link: each listing linked to a map, manually or IDX based

  2. RealBird Featured Listings: listings are displayed as interactive hotspots with photos, multimedia and URL links, manually or IDX based

  3. RealBird Map Search: listings are displayed as interactive hotspots and can be searched with a form-based search tool or browsed visually on the map.
The integration with Google Maps and the Google Earth Viewer allows brokers, agents and IDX providers to configure their maps any way they want. All listings data and user interactions are carried through to all map layers automatically. For an example, visit: http://www.johnshroyer.com and click on "Aerial Maps".

  • I ran accross a few websites that were already using the Google Map to show real estate entries. One was a hack of craigs list http://housingmaps.com/, and the other was http://mlsmadeeasy.com/. Both of those seem to be using the Google technology better, and have been doing them long before FreeBird. Just sharing.

  • The company name is RealBird, not Freebird. Realbird has been the first to introduce branded maps to real estate and the integration with Google and google Earth is not only much better than housingmaps but more sophisticaded and of general use.
    Just sharing back
